THE Fabricated Players have launched an urgent marketing campaign warning audiences that tickets for their latest production are “SELLING FAST”, following the sale of 11 seats in just under three weeks.

The society added the warning to all publicity materials on Tuesday after the box office confirmed that almost four per cent of available tickets had now been purchased.

Publicity officer Donna said: “We don’t want people assuming they can leave it until the last minute.

“At this rate, some performances could theoretically sell out by 2034.”

Of the 11 tickets sold, six have been purchased by cast members’ relatives, two by the director, one by somebody who thought they were booking something else, and two remain unexplained.

The society has nevertheless described demand as “phenomenal”.

Donna said: “Technically tickets are selling.

“And time is moving quite quickly.

“So ‘selling fast’ is completely accurate depending on how you interpret both words.”

The marketing team has now added a series of increasingly urgent messages to social media.

TICKETS SELLING FAST!

was followed two days later by:

DON’T MISS OUT!

and then:

LIMITED AVAILABILITY!

The limited availability refers primarily to Tuesday night, when 146 of the theatre’s 150 seats remain available.

Chairman Keith said: “Four seats have gone.

“That means you can no longer sit absolutely anywhere you want.

“People need to act.”

The society has also begun posting screenshots of the seating plan showing sold seats in red.

To make demand appear stronger, the image has been cropped extremely tightly around Row C, where Donna’s parents have booked next to each other.

She said: “Look at that.

“Two consecutive seats completely gone.”

Members have been instructed to create a sense of urgency whenever discussing the production.

Instead of saying “Are you coming to the show?”, they must now say “Have you managed to get tickets yet?”

If somebody says no, members should look concerned and reply:

“Ooh. I wouldn’t leave it too long.”

Cast member Sandra admitted the strategy had initially made her believe sales were genuinely strong.

She said: “I saw ‘SELLING FAST’ on Facebook and immediately bought four tickets for my family.

“Then I remembered I’m in it.”

Those four purchases caused ticket sales to increase by 57 per cent overnight, prompting the publicity team to announce “EXTRAORDINARY DEMAND”.

The society is now considering adding an extra performance.

Treasurer Graham has asked why.

Donna said: “It sends a message.”

The production opens next Thursday.

Anyone hoping to attend has been advised to book immediately.

Alternatively, they can arrive five minutes before curtain and have their choice of approximately 139 seats.
